Data Dictionary FAQs.

Question

Answer

What is the Gryd Data Dictionary?

The Data Dictionary is a field-by-field reference for Gryd's construction data, covering permits, properties, contractors, licenses, and projects, so teams can see exactly what data is available and how it's structured before working with it.

What datasets are included in the dictionary?

Permit data can show documented construction activity, such as roof work, renovations, additions, solar installs, HVAC updates, electrical work, plumbing work, and other property improvements.

What datasets are included in the dictionary?

Five core record types: permits, properties, contractors, licenses, and projects. Each dataset lists its available fields, data types, and descriptions.

Is every field available for every record?

Field availability depends on what each source jurisdiction reports and captures. Some fields, such as job value, finalized date, and license status, are only present where the issuing authority provides them.

Why do field formats vary?

Local jurisdictions report data differently. Gryd standardizes formatting wherever possible, but some fields retain their original source formatting to preserve accuracy.

Does the Data Dictionary apply to all three access paths?

Yes. The same fields and structure apply whether you access data through the Explorer platform, API, or Bulk Data. Availability may vary by dataset and jurisdiction, not by access method.

Need help understanding which fields matter for your use case?

Tell us what your team is trying to understand, verify, monitor, model, or build. We’ll help point you toward the right data and access path.
